The mode was already distinctly separate from Red Dead Redemption 2's critically beloved single-player campaign, but its popularity eventually earned it a standalone release in 2020. Red Dead Online began life as a multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption 2. More significant updates are a thing of the past for aspiring cowboys (at least until Red Dead Redemption 3 is finally announced). That's about it in terms of new content, though. It will also continue to receive new solo-friendly Telegram Missions. The game will continue to see monthly events which showcase existing mechanics. Rockstar isn't abandoning Red Dead Online entirely, but it will receive far less focus than it's enjoyed since its 2018 release.
